Stowe’s craft beer scene is booming, and if you are looking for a great Apres Ski hangout or simply want a place to catch a sports game, there are several bars and restaurants in the Stowe area that feature fantastic craft beer selections. Here is the list.
Tap 25
One of the newer entrants in the Stowe Beer scene, this village hangout has local beers as well as a strong west coast craft selection (their sister location is in California). Located at the northern end of Stowe Village, take a break during your shopping with a beer and flatbread at Tap 25. See our review of Tap 25.
The Bench
The most popular spot in recent years, The Bench is well known for its great menu, fresh and delicious food including pizza, and a large selection of draft beers at the bar. Located on Mountain Road next to the cinema, The Bench is worth the wait. Owned by the same group that owns The Reservoir in Waterbury, and recently purchased the Rusty Nail location.
Tres Amigos & Rusty Nail Stage
Tres Amigos is the new restaurant located at the longstanding Rusty Nail entertainment venue. The owners of Tres Amigos also own The Bench in Stowe and The Reservoir in Waterbury. They have a great draft beer list.
Doc Ponds
The Hen of the Wood restaurant in Waterbury is world-renowned for its food. The same owners have come to Stowe to open Doc Ponds, which is a music-focused craft beer bar and pub food selection. Located on Mountain Road within walking distance to Stowe Village, you’ll enjoy the draft beer selection and casual seating.
Idletyme Brewing Company
Also on our list of Stowe Breweries, Idletyme is a Mountain Road staple brewpub. Their Farm-to-table dining is brought to you by the chef from Michael’s on the Hill. Outdoor seating and easily accessible from the Stowe Recreation Path.
Sunset Grille & Tap Room
We love Sunset Grille as a casual place to shoot pool or watch a sports game. Enjoy their great family menu including smoked ribs and famous buffalo wings with a local draft beer or a dive-bar classic Bud Light! Located on Cottage Club road behind the Alchemist brewery.
Charlie B’s
Charlie B’s is a long-time Stowe hangout as part of the Stoweflake resort on Mountain Road. Classic food menu with fresh fare and local craft beers.
The Matterhorn
The Matterhorn is a nightclub, sushi lounge, and great place to hangout and play pool and more. Located on Mountain Road close to Mt. Mansfield, the Matterhorn is well known as an Apres-Ski destination.
Rimrock’s
If you are looking for space to play arcade games, pool, or bring a larger group, Rimrock’s is the bar you want to head to on Mountain Road. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating at this Gale Farm Shopping Center family restaurant.
Burt’s Pub
Off the beaten path, Burt’s Pub is a small bar well attended by locals and featuring a small bar menu and extremely friendly staff.
Backyard Tavern
Shoot some pool and play the jukebox as you wind down your night at Backyard Tavern, located on Mountain Road across from Gale Farm Shopping Center.
Piecasso
Famous for their pizza and live music, Piecasso has a nice bar to sit at and enjoy some local drafts before the crowds arrive!
The Roost
If you’ve spent your day at Top Notch Resort getting massages, playing tennis, or just swimming in the pool, you can close it off with a drink at The Roost, the bar at Top Notch. Great views and casual atmosphere at this long-time Stowe landmark hotel.
