Beer in Cans at Burlington Beer Company

Burlington Beer Company

The Burlington Beer Company (BBC) is actually located just into a commercial section of Williston, Vermont, not far off of Rt. 2, but I guess BBC sounds better than WBC. Plus BBC looks great as part of the logo on their cans and beer trucks!

While I’ve been drinking BBC beer for a while, this was my first chance to actually visit the brewery. There is a pretty large tap room where you can order tasting flights of four beers or you can order pints. Unlike some breweries, BBC seems to have managed its supply chain well as there were plenty of cans available for the beers they had on tap.

In addition to my traditional beer tasting and reviewing, as the Cicerone I had been given the assignment of purchasing a selection of four-packs for a dinner-party that evening. I was confident that BBC wouldn’t fail me.

I ordered the tasting flight of four beers … here is what I found:

July 3, 2018 - Samples at Burlington Beer Company in Williston, Vermont

It’s Complicated Being a Wizard (8.0% ABV) Note: this is not the musical album by “Portugal. The Man”, but instead a very hazy and great tasting double IPA. Finishes with slightly sweet notes.
Appearance: 4.6 | Aroma: 4.2 | Feel: 4.5 | Taste: 4.5 | Overall: 4.6

Single Hop Simcoe (5.7% ABV) As its name implies, this American IPA is all about the Simcoe hops (which I love). You can just catch the gentle aromas and tastes of the Simcoe.
Appearance: 4.6 | Aroma: 4.2 | Feel: 4.3 | Taste: 4.4 | Overall: 4.5

Peach of Mind (6.5% ABV) This is a farmhouse-style ale brewed with peaches and plums.   Slightly red appearance and nice mix of bitter hops and sweet fruits.
Appearance: 4.4 | Aroma: 4.5 | Feel: 4.4 | Taste: 4.7 | Overall: 4.6

I See the Vision (Papaya & Zuzu) (7.0% ABV) I usually like this fruity concoction, but maybe I have been converted over to the Peach of Mind. Good kick from a fruit-based beer.
Appearance: 4.3 | Aroma: 4.4 | Feel: 4.3 | Taste: 4.1 | Overall: 4.2

The Cicerone says: BBC offers a wide variety of great tasting beers. For my dinner party, I went with Peach of Mind Farmhouse Ale, Single Hop Simcoe IPA, and It’s Complicated Being a Wizard DIPA … this should give the party-goers a flavorful choice!
