This is the weekend of the Stowe Oktoberfest, and it presented an opportunity to mix Bavarian-themed entertainment and food with locally brewed beer.
Von Trapp Brewing is the featured brew-host for this year’s event. As it was early afternoon, I opted to try a pint of the Bohemian Pilsner (at 5.4% ABV). This is a very dry lager with a slight, slight citrus aftertaste … it drinks exceptionally well on a hot afternoon.
Once I had some beer in me, I grabbed a bratwurst, loaded it up with sauerkraut and mustard, and settled back to watch some of the crazy oompah music. I say crazy, because I couldn’t for the life of me figure out the beat or the dance moves that some of the lederhosen-wearing locals were putting down.
The Cicerone says: The Stowe Oktoberfest runs from Friday, Sept. 29, 2017 thru Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017.
